Plot Summary

In Beetlejuice, Tim Burton delivers a delightfully eccentric blend of the macabre and the hilarious. The story follows Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara Maitland (Geena Davis), a recently deceased couple who find themselves trapped in their idyllic home as ghosts. Their afterlife takes a chaotic turn when an eccentric family, the Deetzes, moves in and disrupts their peace with their modern art and over-the-top personalities.

Desperate to reclaim their home, Adam and Barbara turn to Betelgeuse, better known as Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a mischievous and unhinged “bio-exorcist” with his own chaotic agenda. What ensues is a whirlwind of bizarre hauntings, strange encounters, and hilariously spooky antics.

Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder), the gothic, misunderstood teenager of the family, becomes the unexpected bridge between the living and the dead, forming a bond with the Maitlands as she navigates the weirdness unfolding around her.
