Sidekicks (1992)

Sidekicks is a family-friendly action-comedy film directed by Aaron Norris, starring Chuck Norris, Beau Bridges, Jonathan Brandis, and Mako. The movie is a heartwarming tale of self-discovery, perseverance, and overcoming adversity, wrapped in the excitement of martial arts.
Barry Gabrewski (Jonathan Brandis) is a shy, asthmatic teenager who struggles with bullying at school and feelings of inadequacy. Barry escapes into a vivid fantasy world where he imagines himself as the heroic sidekick of his idol, martial arts superstar Chuck Norris. In these daydreams, Barry conquers challenges and defeats villains with the help of Norris.
Barryโ€™s life begins to change when he befriends Mr. Lee (Mako), a kindly martial arts instructor. With encouragement from Mr. Lee and his supportive father, Jerry Gabrewski (Beau Bridges), Barry starts training in karate. Under Mr. Lee’s guidance, Barry gains physical strength, confidence, and a sense of purpose.
The climax of the movie takes place at a local martial arts tournament, where Barry and his team face off against his tormentors, led by the arrogant dojo instructor Kelly Stone. Barryโ€™s determination and newfound skills shine as he competes, with a surprise appearance by Chuck Norris himself, who joins Barry as his teammate in the final showdown.
