SEQUELS WE LIKED:
“Best of the Best II” is an action martial arts film and sequel to the first film starring Eric Roberts, Phillip Rhee and Chris Penn.
This was the only sequel to be released in theaters and due to the box office losses, the other two sequels became direct to home video releases.
Eric Robert’s said in an interview he did this film because he felt the first film wasn’t the best and felt
This film could level up the franchise, which it didn’t.
The is one the very few ‘fight to the death’ movies to actually get a theatrical release at that time. And let’s face it, as sequels go for movies this one is underrated and actually is better to us than the first one.
In Best of the Best II, the story picks up after the events of the first film, with friends and martial artists Alex Grady (Eric Roberts) and Tommy Lee (Phillip Rhee) continuing to train and compete in martial arts. They run a dojo together and are trying to move forward with their lives. However, tragedy strikes when their close friend and fellow martial artist Travis Brickley (Chris Penn) participates in an underground martial arts tournament called “The Coliseum” and is killed by the reigning champion, Brakus (Ralf Moeller).
Driven by grief and a thirst for justice, Alex and Tommy are drawn into the violent world of illegal underground fighting. To take on Brakus and his organization, they must combine their skills, confront their own fears, and prepare for a brutal fight to avenge Travis and protect their loved ones.
