In the heart of New York, detectives Nick Conklin (Michael Douglas) and Charlie Vincent (Andy Garcรญa) find themselves entangled in a deadly game after they arrest a dangerous Yakuza member, Sato (Yลซsaku Matsuda). Ordered to escort him back to Japan, they soon realize they have walked into a world far beyond their control.

Once in Osaka, the duo is out of their element, dealing with a culture where law and honor operate differently. But things take a brutal turn when Sato escapes, leaving them stranded in a foreign land with no allies. Forced to work with Masahiro Matsumoto (Ken Takakura), a disciplined Japanese officer, Nick and Charlie must navigate the underworld of the Yakuza while confronting betrayal, violence, and their own moral dilemmas.

As Nick becomes obsessed with taking down Sato, his methods clash with the traditional ways of Japanese justice. The deeper he goes, the blurrier the lines between honor and vengeance become. With time running out and the stakes higher than ever, can he bring Sato to justice, or will the darkness consume him?
