Plot Summary

Based on a true story, Schindler’s List follows the journey of Oskar Schindler, a German businessman and member of the Nazi Party, who arrives in Kraków, Poland, during World War II to profit from the war. With the help of Itzhak Stern, a Jewish accountant, Schindler establishes a factory that employs Jewish workers, initially as a means to earn money.

However, as the Nazi regime intensifies its brutal persecution of Jews, Schindler undergoes a profound transformation. Witnessing the horrors of the Holocaust, he risks everything—his fortune, his reputation, and his life—to save as many people as possible. Using his factory as a refuge, he bribes Nazi officials and falsifies records to keep over 1,100 Jews from being sent to Auschwitz.

The film depicts the chilling cruelty of Nazi officer Amon Göth, who oversees the liquidation of the Kraków Ghetto and mercilessly executes prisoners. Schindler, once an opportunist, becomes a reluctant hero, demonstrating that even in the darkest times, humanity and compassion can triumph over evil.
