The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) is the second film in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s 1937 novel. The film continues the journey of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and his companions, including the dwarf prince Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), as they make their way toward the Lonely Mountain to reclaim their homeland from the dragon Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch).
The story picks up where An Unexpected Journey left off, with Bilbo and the dwarves facing various challenges and adventures as they travel through the dangerous and enchanted lands of Middle-earth.
