Jungle (2017) is an adventure drama film directed by Greg McLean, based on the true story of Yossi Ghinsberg, an Israeli adventurer who becomes lost in the Amazon rainforest.
The film follows Yossi Ghinsberg (played by Daniel Radcliffe), a young Israeli backpacker who travels to South America with dreams of adventure. In Bolivia, he meets fellow travelers Kevin (played by Alex Russell) and Marcus (played by Joel Jackson), and they decide to embark on a journey into the uncharted Amazon rainforest, guided by an enigmatic local named Felipe (played by Thomas Kretschmann).
As they venture deeper into the jungle, the harsh realities of their expedition begin to surface. Tensions rise, and after a series of challenges, Yossi finds himself separated from the group, lost and alone in the treacherous wilderness. The film chronicles his harrowing survival journey as he faces numerous obstacles, including harsh weather conditions, dangerous wildlife, and dwindling supplies.
Throughout his ordeal, Yossi battles despair, loneliness, and the physical toll of surviving in a hostile environment. The narrative alternates between his struggles in the jungle and flashbacks to his life before the adventure, highlighting themes of resilience, friendship, and the human spirit’s will to survive.
