Inkheart (2008)

Inkheart (2008) is a fantasy adventure film directed by Iain Softley, based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Cornelia Funke. The movie is set in a world where certain people, known as “Silvertongues,” have the ability to bring characters from books to life simply by reading aloud. The story combines elements of magic, adventure, and literary fantasy, following a young girl and her father as they try to stop a villain who has been accidentally released from a book.
The story follows Mortimer “Mo” Folchart (played by Brendan Fraser), a “Silvertongue” who has the ability to bring book characters to life by reading aloud. One night, while reading Inkheart (a fictional novel within the movie), Mo accidentally releases the evil villain Capricorn (Andy Serkis) and some of his minions into the real world. In the process, Mo’s wife, Resa (Sienna Guillory), is transported into the book.
Nine years later, Mo and his daughter Meggie (Eliza Bennett) are living quietly while searching for a copy of Inkheart in the hope of rescuing Resa. Along the way, they encounter Dustfinger (Paul Bettany), a fire-breather who was also brought to life from the book and longs to return home. Together, they must stop Capricorn from unleashing further destruction on the world by using the powers of another “Silvertongue” and completing his dark plan.
