CAPE FEAR (1991)

CAPE FEAR (1991) is a psychological thriller directed by Martin Scorsese, a remake of the 1962 film of the same name, which was based on the novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald. This version is known for its intense performances, especially by Robert De Niro, and its exploration of themes such as vengeance, justice, and moral ambiguity.
The film follows Sam Bowden (Nick Nolte), a lawyer living in North Carolina, whose life is turned upside down when a former client, Max Cady (Robert De Niro), is released from prison after serving a 14-year sentence for rape. Cady, who believes he was wronged by the justice system, seeks revenge on Bowden, whom he holds responsible for his conviction.
As Cady begins to stalk Bowden and his family—his wife Leigh (Jessica Lange) and their daughter Danielle (Juliette Lewis)—the tension escalates. Cady’s menacing behavior becomes increasingly aggressive, putting the entire family in jeopardy. Bowden tries to seek legal protection, but the law proves inadequate against Cady’s relentless pursuit.
The film builds to a climactic confrontation between Bowden and Cady, forcing Bowden to confront his own moral boundaries as he fights to protect his family.
