“Halloween,” released in 2018 and directed by David Gordon Green, serves as a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s iconic 1978 film of the same name. This one actually ignores all the previous sequels and reboots, instead focusing on the original story and its consequences.
The film tells the story of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), who has spent the past 40 years preparing for the return of Michael Myers, the masked killer who terrorized her and her friends on Halloween night. Laurie is now a hardened, isolated survivor, facing the trauma of her past and the strain it puts on her relationships, especially with her daughter, Karen ( Judy Greer) and niece, Allyson (Andi Matichak).
When Michael escapes from the mental institution, he returns to Haddonfield, causing terror to Laurie and her family. The film explores themes of trauma, survival and the effects of violence, while delivering classic slasher thrills and suspense.
