Demolition Man (1993) is a science fiction action film directed by Marco Brambilla. The film stars Sylvester Stallone as John Spartan, Wesley Snipes as Simon Phoenix, and Sandra Bullock as Lenina Huxley.
Set in a dystopian future (specifically the year 2032), the film begins in the 1990s when John Spartan, a tough police officer, is on the hunt for the psychopathic criminal Simon Phoenix. During a standoff, Spartan’s attempt to capture Phoenix leads to collateral damage, resulting in both men being cryogenically frozen as a form of punishment.
When Phoenix is thawed out in the peaceful, crime-free future, he quickly adapts to the new society and begins wreaking havoc. Spartan is also thawed out to stop him, leading to a clash between the brutal tactics of the past and the non-violent ideals of the future.
