Halloween (1978) is a classic American slasher film directed by John Carpenter, who co-wrote the screenplay with Debra Hill. Plot Summary
On Halloween night in 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers murders his teenage sister, Judith Myers, in their home in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois. After the murder, Michael is institutionalized at Smith’s Grove Sanitarium under the care of psychiatrist Dr. Samuel Loomis (Donald Pleasence). Michael does not speak or show any emotion during his time in the institution.Fifteen years later, on October 30, 1978, Michael escapes from Smith’s Grove and steals a car. Dr. Loomis realizes that Michael is heading back to Haddonfield and immediately sets out to stop him. Meanwhile, Michael stalks teenager Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her friends Annie (Nancy Kyes) and Lynda (P.J. Soles), who are unaware of the danger lurking in their quiet suburban town.
As Halloween night unfolds, Michael begins his killing spree, targeting Laurie’s friends while Laurie is babysitting a young boy, Tommy Doyle (Brian Andrews). Michael’s attacks become more intense and brutal as the night progresses, and Laurie eventually comes face to face with the masked killer. With Dr. Loomis in pursuit, Laurie must fight to survive as Michael relentlessly stalks her.
