Jurassic Park (1993), directed by Steven Spielberg, is one of the most iconic and groundbreaking films in cinematic history. Based on Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel of the same name, the movie revolutionized the film industry with its groundbreaking use of CGI and practical effects, and it launched one of the most successful film franchises of all time. Jurassic Park blends science fiction, adventure, and suspense, telling a cautionary tale about the dangers of tampering with nature through genetic engineering.
The story takes place on Isla Nublar, a remote island where billionaire John Hammond (played by Richard Attenborough) and his company, InGen, have created a theme park filled with cloned dinosaurs using DNA extracted from prehistoric mosquitoes preserved in amber. Hammond invites a group of experts to tour the park in order to gain their approval before it opens to the public. The group includes paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and chaotician Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), as well as Hammond’s two grandchildren, Lex (Ariana Richards) and Tim Murphy (Joseph Mazzello).
Initially, the park seems to be a triumph of science, with dinosaurs brought back to life in a controlled environment. However, things quickly go wrong when the park’s security systems fail due to sabotage by the disgruntled employee Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight), who shuts down the systems to steal dinosaur embryos. The shutdown leads to the dinosaurs escaping their enclosures, including the deadly Tyrannosaurus Rex and the cunning Velociraptors. The group must now survive the island’s dangers as they try to escape.
