The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
The final confrontation between the forces of good and evil fighting for control of the future of Middle-earth. Frodo and Sam reach Mordor in their quest to destroy the One Ring, while Aragorn leads the forces of good against Sauron’s evil army at the stone city of Minas Tirith.
The film continues the journey of Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) as they make their final push towards Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring. Along the way, they face further treachery from Gollum (Andy Serkis), whose motives become increasingly dangerous. As Frodo weakens under the ring’s corrupting power, Sam’s loyalty and strength shine through.
Meanwhile, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), and the rest of the forces of Middle-earth prepare for the final battle against the evil lord Sauron. Gandalf (Ian McKellen) leads the defense of Minas Tirith in Gondor during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, while Γowyn (Miranda Otto) and Merry (Dominic Monaghan) face off against the Witch-king of Angmar.
In a parallel storyline, Aragorn embraces his destiny as the rightful king of Gondor and leads a desperate march to the Black Gate of Mordor to distract Sauron and give Frodo the chance to destroy the ring.
