Silver Bullet (1985) is a horror film based on Stephen King’s novella Cycle of the Werewolf, directed by Daniel Attias. The story is set in the small town of Tarker’s Mill, which is plagued by a series of brutal, mysterious murders. As fear spreads through the community, young paraplegic Marty Coslaw (Corey Haim) becomes convinced that a werewolf is responsible for the killings.
Marty, along with his older sister Jane (Megan Follows) and his Uncle Red (Gary Busey), decides to investigate. After a harrowing encounter with the creature, Marty is sure of its existence, but the townsfolk remain skeptical. With the help of his family, he takes it upon himself to uncover the werewolf’s identity and stop it before it claims more victims. Armed with a custom-made silver bullet, Marty and his allies prepare for a deadly showdown.
Silver Bullet is known for its mix of small-town Americana and supernatural horror, blending suspense, action, and classic werewolf lore. With memorable performances, especially by Haim and Busey, and a combination of tension and heartfelt moments, the film has gained a cult following among horror fans. It stands out for its coming-of-age elements, exploring themes of courage, family bonds, and the power of belief in the face of disbelief and danger.
