Made of Honor (2008)

Made of Honor (2008) is a romantic comedy directed by Paul Weiland, starring Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan. The film follows Tom Bailey (Dempsey), a wealthy, charming playboy who has a deep friendship with Hannah (Monaghan), a woman he has known for years. Tom enjoys his bachelor lifestyle, but he also depends on Hannah as his closest confidante.
When Hannah leaves for a six-week work trip to Scotland, Tom realizes how much he misses her and decides that he wants to take their relationship to the next level. However, his plans are crushed when Hannah returns engaged to a wealthy and handsome Scotsman named Colin (Kevin McKidd). She asks Tom to be her “maid of honor,” and he reluctantly accepts, determined to sabotage the wedding and win her over.

As Tom participates in the wedding festivities, he struggles to prove that he is a better match for Hannah than Colin. His efforts include competing in traditional Scottish games, enduring awkward bridal activities, and ultimately confessing his love. However, Hannah initially dismisses his feelings, believing he is acting out of jealousy.

On the day of the wedding, Tom realizes he cannot let Hannah go. He rushes to the ceremony and crashes it just in time to profess his true love. Hannah, realizing she loves Tom too, calls off the wedding and runs after him. The film ends with Tom and Hannah getting married, sealing their love story with a happy ending.

Made of Honor is a lighthearted, funny, and romantic film that plays with the familiar “friends-to-lovers” trope. It features scenic Scottish landscapes, comedic moments, and heartfelt emotions, making it a classic romantic comedy with a predictable yet charming storyline.
