The Forbidden Kingdom (2008)

The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) is a fantasy martial arts film that brings together two of the most iconic martial arts stars, Jet Li and Jackie Chan, in a visually stunning and action-packed adventure. Directed by Rob Minkoff, the film blends elements of Chinese mythology with a modern-day fantasy quest.
The film follows Jason Tripitikas (Michael Angarano), a teenager from Boston who is obsessed with martial arts and classic kung fu movies. One day, while visiting a pawnshop in Chinatown, Jason discovers an ancient golden staff. After being attacked by local bullies, he is mysteriously transported back in time to ancient China.
In this new world, Jason learns that the staff belongs to the legendary Monkey King (Jet Li), who has been imprisoned by the evil Jade Warlord (Collin Chou). Jason’s arrival has been foretold in an ancient prophecy, and he is tasked with returning the staff to the Monkey King to restore balance to the land.
Along his journey, Jason meets Lu Yan (Jackie Chan), a drunken kung fu master, and Golden Sparrow (Liu Yifei), a skilled fighter seeking revenge for her family’s death at the hands of the Jade Warlord. Together, they must battle through numerous obstacles, including the deadly White-Haired Witch (Li Bingbing) and the Jade Warlord’s army, to complete their quest and free the Monkey King.
