Rome (2005–2007) is an acclaimed historical drama television series produced by HBO, BBC, and RAI. The show is set during the final years of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire, spanning the period from Julius Caesar’s campaigns in Gaul to the rise of Augustus Caesar.
The show focuses on two main storylines: the political intrigue and power struggles of historical figures like Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, Cleopatra, and Octavian (later Augustus), and the lives of two fictional Roman soldiers, Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo.These two characters offer a ground-level view of life in ancient Rome, connecting the grand historical events to more personal and relatable stories.
The series was praised for its historical authenticity, strong performances, and impressive production design, which brought ancient Rome to life with grand sets, costumes, and attention to detail.
